How does this work?

Waveform therapy (otherwise known as biomesotherapy and now Emscuplt) uses high-intensity focused electromagnetic energy to trigger what’s called supramaximal contractions (the kind that cannot be achieved by voluntary muscle action)

It’s cleared by the Food and Drug Administration for the “improvement of abdominal tone, strengthening of the abdominal muscles, development of firmer abdomen, [and] strengthening, toning, firming of the buttocks. Unlike the emsculpt we are able to work arms, thighs bra stap, back fat”.

Waveform therapy not only emplodes fat cells, but simultaneously builds muscle fibers (by roughly 16 percent) for more defined muscle groupings.

The treatment essentially causes 20,000 muscle contractions in 45 minutes, constricting the muscles beyond any sort of physiological norm, and targeting fat loss to the area of the muscle — something sit-ups alone could never accomplish.

During these intense pulses, the muscles release chemicals locally. They then signal fat cells in the area to break down their contents and release them as free fatty acids. The sheer abundance of fatty acids overwhelms the fat cells, causing them to malfunction and die, after which, they’re metabolized by the body and excreted as waste.

The 45-minute treatment cycles through three phases. The tangible difference between the first two is almost imperceptible, with the second being a smidge longer, and more pronounced than the first, as the machine is contracting the muscle “a thousand times in a couple of seconds” versus “a hundred times in a couple of seconds.
